that first text

The first text read something like this, “Momma, how long do I cook the fish for?  Do I have to put it in the pouch?  Love you!”  The next text wanted the recipe for Cheese Bread.  The requests started off slowly and increased as my Lia and Casey moved into their own homes and kitchens and started their own lives and long after I sold the large corporate catering company that was our source of income as they were growing up.  Cooking for themselves, their roommates and eventually their spouses became their therapy.  My babies, grown up and in the kitchen, just like Momma.

“Does it matter which cocoa I use for the brownies?”  “Do I have to use butter?”  Seriously?  “How long do I cook the Parmesan Chicken?”  “Can you send me the Cranberry Streusel Cheesecake recipe?”

Over Christmas Bread and Mimosas, the decision was made.  Time to put ‘our’ recipes on paper.  I had resisted the idea of doing The Cookbook for many years doing the business book I claimed I was supposed to write and publish instead.  Never occurred to me that The Cookbook had nothing to do with me and everything to do with my now grown babies, their spouses and eventually their children.

This ‘cookbook’ is for my babies and their babies who I ask to be most blessed with the memories that all of these recipes bring.  This Momma adores you.

Go cook something.
